"FOCUS ON THE HEART TO CHANGE THE WORLD"
4th Edition of the Esperanza Pertusa International Photography Award
They say that SEEING is all we need to transform reality. The purpose of this award is to recognize the power of the gaze in driving social transformation. In this way, the award honors artistic expression, beauty, and the ability to capture the viewer’s eye.
CONTEST
Next edition: 2026
One of the major initiatives undertaken by the Foundation in 2021 was the creation of the Esperanza Pertusa International Photography Contest.
This award was born from the need to recognize the work of certain artists whose projects reveal the harsh realities of poverty and social exclusion affecting millions of human beings around the world. These projects teach us to understand a reality that is sometimes disguised or hidden, with a consciousness-raising purpose that urges us to take the necessary actions, no matter how small they may seem.
These photographs foster a positive social transformation, with a dual objective: reducing poverty and social exclusion. The Esperanza Pertusa Foundation aims to honor all artists who, through their lenses, capture different realities, projecting a realistic approach to complex situations in their snapshots.
Through a compassionate gaze, they can awaken minds, spark interest in what reaches the eye, challenge prejudices, and push us toward a proactive attitude in the change our world requires. In this project, art plays a leading role in generating the necessary impact.
Photography takes us on a journey into a parallel universe, showing us the beauty of human beings in all their dimensions, as well as the complex social and cultural situations that confine or weigh them down.
